Local community Community development in dialogue with residents

Local community Community development in dialogue with residents

Working together with local people

We support rural and urban local communities in activating and developing the social engagement potential of their residents. Social capital theories have argued for years that where cooperation and civic engagement flourish, residents are better off.

What do we do?

We design comprehensive school action programmes that develop the social and civic participation of children and young people. We support the effective operation of student councils, school patricipatory budgeting and constructive parental involvement.

We open up public institutions to local residents. We help the staff of libraries, community centres, social welfare centres, theatres, museums, etc. to create volunteer development programmes whereby residents strengthen the potential of the institution while taking some responsibility for its development. We also design and implement local grant programmes for residents.

We facilitate dialogue between local authorities and residents. We design and implement consultation processes and create opportunities for reflection and discussion on local common matters.

We create programmes for the development of knowledge and competencies of local officials and residents.
