We have been supporting the development of volunteering in Warsaw's public libraries as part of the Warsaw Volunteers (Ochotnicy Warszawscy) programme since 2017. The main goals of the project are:
This is the first such comprehensive programme dedicated to libraries in Warsaw. On the basis of its experience, similar programmes have been developed for other public institutions - community centres, theatres, care and treatment centres or care and educational institutions.
- to improve the model of cooperation with volunteers in institutions,
- to create a community and network volunteer coordinators and volunteers,
- to exchange good practices on volunteering.

How do we work with libraries?
The 2-year programme is divided into two parts:
- Part 1 is aimed at volunteer coordinators in libraries. At this stage, participants take part in group training combined with study visits to institutions in the Warsaw area where there is well-developed volunteering. Each library branch is also supported individually by an experienced trainer.
- Part 2 consists of forums for volunteer coordinators. In the course of the project, 3 educational and networking forums are organised for all interested employees of Warsaw's public libraries, including those who have already completed the training programme or are in the process of doing so. The forums are combined with study visits.
