Youth councils are, or can be, one of the most important tools for increasing civic participation of young people at local level. Their systematic and good functioning contributes to young people's experience: debating local issues, voting, representation on local government advisory boards, co-deciding on their community and taking co-responsibility for it.

Youth councils offer great potential. The potential for young people's enthusiasm, concern for the community and eagerness to take action on public issues. Properly harnessed, it can be an important element in increasing young people's participation in decision-making processes and, in the long term, contribute to increasing political participation.

We support youth councillors, their adult mentors and local government representatives in their activities - we provide training, workshops and counselling.

We initiated the establishment of a Coalition for Youth Councils in Poland. The coalition is an informal association of organisations, institutions and individuals working on the topic of Youth Councils, who see them as a way to increase civic participation of young people. The main objective of the coalition was to improve the quality of the Youth Councils of Municipalities in Poland. The coalition was formed by representatives of 22 institutions, organisations and individuals from all over Poland.

We strive to improve the quality of youth councils by disseminating the standards and principles of operation and promoting their mission.

We integrate people and build a community of practitioners interested in young people's civic engagement. We create opportunities for the youth leadership community to meet and share experiences at conferences and seminars. We undertake these activities systematically because we believe that building understanding of the role of young people's participation in public life is an important part of our mission.
