This year we are marking 20 years of the Civis Polonus Foundation! This is an important moment for us to sum up our activities, reflect and celebrate our achievements so far.
We invite you to celebrate together and share your memories of the Foundation. These 20 years of creating social change would not have been possible without your active participation!

History in brief
The Civis Polonus Foundation was established in 1994 by Jacek Kowalski, Jacek Królikowski Tomasz Masny and Cezary Trutkowski, but began its actual activities 10 years later.
In the spring of 1994, the future 'founding fathers' co-led an educational project for young people called 'Civis Polonus', or Polish Citizen. Its aim was to teach practical lessons on the principles of a democratic state. Young people from all over Poland learnt about central institutions, took part in meetings with politicians and social activists and simulated Senate sessions.
Participants in the programme included the current presidents of the foundation, as well as Adam Bodnar - the current Minister of Justice and Ombudsman in 2015-21. After the success of the project, it was decided to further develop civic education in a more official form. This is how the Civis Polonus Foundation was officially established.
The activities of the Foundation since 2004 have been managed as a board by Dr Olga Napiontek, Joanna Pietrasik and Monika Szaniawska (between 2004 and 2010).
