European Congress of Youth Councils
01.03.2019 - 30.06.2025
project targeted at
Youth Councils
The main objective of the European Congress of Youth Councils
is to arouse the interest of young citizens active in youth councils in European issues, to popularise knowledge of the EU institutions, priorities and activities, and to stimulate discussion on selected topics concerning the directions of the European Union.
To date, we have held four editions of the congress:
1. The first European Congress of Youth Councils was held in 2019 in Słupsk and focused around the organisation of local pro-frequency events to encourage young voters to participate in the European Parliament elections.
2. The 2nd European Congress of Youth Councils (2022) was held in Warsaw and focused around the Conference on the Future of Europe and a speech by the President of the European Commission.
3. The 3rd European Congress of Youth Councils (2023) was held in the European Youth Capital - Lublin, and focused on the Union's offer to young people and the impact of the EU on local communities.
4. The 4th European Congress of Youth Councils (2024) was held at the European Centre for Geological Education in Chęciny. Topics included the European Parliament elections, European security, preventing disinformation and European values.

How do we work?
The European Congress of Youth Councils is an educational event for young citizens who have previously committed to organising an event (online or on-site) for young people. The events are linked to the theme of the respective congress. Past themes have included the Conference on the Future of the EU, the Parliamentary Elections or the European Year of Skills.
Prior to the congress, young people receive expert and technical support from the foundation. Information meetings are held and those taking part in the recruitment are put in direct contact with the regional assistants.
Free participation in the Congress is a reward for the completion of the event/initiative which, on the basis of the committee's assessment, received the highest number of points in the merit evaluation criteria.
The European Congress of Youth Councils is also a space for real open discussion, not just a forum where young people listen to adults and experts.
At the same time, we are trying to make the event an opportunity to build an community of active young people who are interested and committed to creating the future of the European Union. Consequently, the congress is a place to build relationships between participants and create a network that can help realise future actions to popularise the idea and meaning of the European Union.
