Youth Education and civic activation of young people

Youth Education and civic activation of young people

Our mission is to increase the influence of children and young people in public affairs

We take the following approach to our work:

1. Citizenship is not just a privilege for adults - children and young people are already citizens!

2. A citizenship is something to be learned and experienced.

3. It is the role of adults (educators, teachers, local government) to teach young people how to be citizens.

4. We understand social and civic competences in accordance with the recommendations of the European Parliament and the Council of Europe on key competences for lifelong learning.

5. We create citizenship education in action.

6. We believe that the positive experience of one's own impact on the local environment (e.g. schools and community) is the best civic education.

What do we do?

We support young people to participate consciously and actively in their local community. We believe that teenage citizens can be valuable partners for the local administration. That is why we help them to build relationships with the authorities and consult on decisions concerning issues important to young residents. We support and promote youth councils - a platform for the exchange of opinions and collaboration between adult and young citizens.

We help young citizens to better understand and appreciate the European Union. Since 2017 we have been implementing civic education projects about the European Union. We are committed to increasing citizens' interest in European topics, popularising the idea and importance of the EU, sparking discussion on the direction of the EU, and finally encouraging pro-European activity in their communities.

We involve young people in the participatory budgeting. We help them develop and submit proposals, do the voting and spend the allocated money.

We educate young leaders. We believe that the development of young people's leadership competences will contribute to strengthening their further social and civic activity. We believe this is an investment in youth and the whole community.

Równać Szanse - Equal Opportunities

Since 2021, we have been implementing the Równać Szanse Programme (Equal Opportunities), an initiative of the Polish-American Freedom Foundation.

The aim of the Programme is to develop the social and emotional competencies of young people from small towns and villages, facilitating their good start in adult life.

You can find more information on the Programme's website.
